Arsenal could still win the quadruple, but in Alan Pardew’s eyes, there’s only one trophy the Gunners truly need to win.

Pressure is mounting on Arsenal in the title race, as Manchester City are also fighting to win a shock quadruple.

Soon, only one team will be fighting for the quadruple as Arsenal face Man City in the Carabao Cup final, though, to some, a quadruple dream should be the last thing on Mikel Arteta’s mind.

Former Premier League boss Alan Pardew has been assessing Arsenal’s trophy chances this season, and has made it very clear what the Gunners should really be focusing on.

Alan Pardew says Arsenal have to win the Premier League, even the Champions League wouldn’t be enough

Speaking on talkSPORT, Pardew analysed how many titles Arsenal could take home this season out of the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and the Carabao Cup.

Despite the Gunners looking strong on all four fronts, Pardew claimed that, realistically, there’s only one title Arsenal have to win: The Premier League.

The 64-year-old went as far as to say that even winning the Champions League wouldn’t forgive Arsenal for missing out on the league title, if they did.

“You can dangle that Champions League in front of them and say, ‘If you win that, would you cope with second?’”

“I still don’t think it would be enough, really; they’ve got to put it to bed, that second place.”

In Pardew’s eyes, another second-place finish in the Premier League for Arsenal would be so catastrophic that even winning the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history wouldn’t mask the failure.

To some extent, Pardew is right, as missing out on the title to Man City would be humiliating, but to say that winning the Champions League wouldn’t be enough is a stretch.

The Carabao Cup could be Arsenal’s most important trophy win this season

Winning the Champions League would be an achievement beyond the wildest dreams of Arsenal fans, but with regard to this season, the Premier League title absolutely must accompany it.

Agree or disagree, winning the Champions League but NOT the Premier League would not be enough this season

The need to win the league is greater than ever over the previous 22 years, which is why there’s reason to believe that winning the Carabao Cup should be the first priority.

If Arsenal beat Manchester City at Wembley, the momentum going into the run-in would be massive.

Simultaneously, if Man City beat Arsenal at Wembley, Pep Guardiola’s side would have additional belief that they could go on to win the league, which is the last thing the Gunners need.

Ultimately, there should be no preference, as if the Arsenal squad are good enough, they can set their sights on anything; the ball is in Arteta’s court.
