Takehiro Tomiyasu has been spotted in Arsenal training ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League clash against FC Porto.
The Japanese international has not featured for the Gunners since Arsenal’s New Year’s Eve loss to Fulham, with Tomiyasu featuring for Japan in the Asian Cup before returning with a calf injury.
The 25-year-old defender has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season and was vital for the north London side in the first half of the Premier League season, with Tomiyasu’s absence felt across the squad.
Takehiro Tomiyasu spotted in Arsenal training ahead of Porto clash

And as per the Athletic’s Jordan Campbell, Tomiyasu was in training for Arsenal earlier today ahead of Tuesday’s European tie with Porto, where Mikel Arteta’s side currently find themselves 1-0 down.
Lauded by Ben White as a ‘world-class’, there’s a general feeling amongst Arsenal fans that Tomiyasu would be a starter if the defender was fully fit, with the Japanese star capable of playing across the backline.
And with Tomiyasu now in contention to feature tomorrow against Porto, there’s now a strong chance that we could now see the former Bologna defender back in action for Arsenal next month.
Indeed, the Gunners have just two games left this month in Porto and Manchester City, and having Tomiyasu fully fit for the Premier League run-in could be massive for Arsenal’s title hopes.
Arsenal have the squad to make history this season

Tomiyasu’s return to first-team action will signal a massive boost for Arsenal in their bid to become English and European champions, with the defender one of the best performers in the entire squad.
And with the likes of Jurrien Timber also set to return, Arsenal have the team needed to make some real history this season, starting tomorrow against Porto.
The return of Tomiyasu is big and will give Arteta more options at the back, and the quality of depth Arsenal now have in every position is quite scary, to say the least.
