Arsenal fans will no doubt be absolutely delighted that both Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have both played a role in the first-team’s success so far this season.
The presence of the Hale End Academy in the Arsenal senior squad has diminished in recent years, Bukayo Saka is the last player who truly made the jump.
But now Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly are definitely here to stay – both are making a strong case to retain their spot in the squad even when all are fit.
Nwaneri is arguably even ready to start games regularly for Mikel Arteta, a manager who is aware of the Englishman’s rich potential.
That being said, there will be one or two inspired youngsters in the academy right now, believing that it will be their success story next.
Lucas Nygaard ready to take Jack Porter’s spot in the EFL Cup
Of course, the place to watch the best of Arsenal’s academy right now is the under-19 games in the Champions League.
Arsenal beat PSG under-19s 1-0 at Meadow Park this week thanks to a goal from 16-year-old striker Andre Annous.

However, it was goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard who stole the headlines on this occasion.
There were a few well known academy names on display, Ayden Heaven also started and 14-year-old Max Dowman impressed off of the bench.
But it was Danish keeper Nygaard who arguably secured Arsenal the win, producing several high-quality saves to keep Arsenal’s clean sheet.
18-year-old Nygaard was just returning from injury when Jack Porter started in the EFL Cup against Bolton Wanderers.
Perhaps Nygaard would have taken that opportunity were he fit, and the Dane definitely demonstrated that he’s ready should Arsenal need another substitute for David Raya in the next round.
Arsenal eyeing another Brazilian wonderkid signing
After their success in signing Gabriel Martinelli from Brazil, Arsenal are now targeting another talented youngster from the country.
Arsenal are interested in Vitor Reis according to reports, a youngster who is considered to have world-class potential.
So whilst Arsenal fans will be hoping to see more of the Hale End talent in the months and years to come, a sprinkle of the world’s best young talent elsewhere will also be very welcome too.
Edu is clearly trying to put foundations in place to sustain Arsenal’s success in the future.
And although Nygaard might never quite be at the level to displace Raya at Arsenal, it’s great to see him thriving on a big stage for the club’s youngsters.
