£34m Arsenal player can’t give up at the first hurdle, he can still be a star for Mikel Arteta

Although he’s yet to win a starting role at Arsenal, Fabio Vieira would be foolish to seek an exit from Mikel Arteta’s side in the near future.

That’s amid reports of Olympique Marseille holding interest in a loan deal for Vieira in January.

The club are said to be exploring the possibility on the basis of Vieira’s lack of playing time at Arsenal under Arteta. 

And although such a move may prove appealing, the £34m midfielder should definitely keep the faith in his journey in North London.

Vieira clearly needed time to adapt to the Premier League and England when joining Arsenal in 2022.

And after a fairly quiet first season, many expected the Portugal youth international to kick on this year.

However, the 23-year-old has often remained on the sidelines, even being left of the playing squad on occasion.

And whilst this will be a bitter pill to swallow, much like the red card he received against Burnley, Vieira still has huge potential at Arsenal.

The midfielder looked excellent off the bench in the early parts of the season, and Arteta clearly has a plan for his skillset.

Of course, the most exciting indicator of Vieira’s talent came in his substitute appearance against Fulham back in August.

Entering the pitch in the 56th minute, Vieira produced one of the most memorable cameos in recent Arsenal history.

His 36 minutes on the pitch were arguably the most creative of any Arsenal player this season.

And it really is a cruel fate that Vieira will now miss some important upcoming games, ones he may have found himself starting.

However, Vieira simply can’t give up on his path at Arsenal amid all these frustrations.

Both Arteta and Edu Gaspar were so convinced by Vieira’s potential when he signed, and that’s unlikely to have changed.

And at 23, the club will hope that Vieira can still hit a considerable curve of improvement.

Perhaps the number eight role on Arsenal’s left side will still prove perfect for Vieira’s skill set.

And although it may be tough at times, the midfielder will need to believe that he can eventually be key for The Gunners, as it really would be a huge shame to see such a unique profile leave the club.
