Arsenal showed real character with ten men to come from behind twice to beat Aston Villa 3-2. Nicolas Pepe, Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were the heroes on the night but questions need to be asked of Unai Emery.
The win yesterday showed exactly what’s required from the team on a consistent basis. Depending upon clean sheets to win games would be foolish considering the state of our defence. Emery needs to use his side to their strengths which is by setting them out with one aim – to outscore our opponents.

Even without Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal have all the firepower they need in the attack. Aubameyang is in the form of his life while Pepe has been making a number of fantastic runs through the middle or while cutting in from the left.
However, the Ivorian’s movement was completely ignored by the midfield which left him frustrated on the pitch on Sunday. One player who would be perfect to unleash Pepe is Mesut Ozil. The German was once again left on the bench in a game where he could have made a serious difference.
Edu should step in between Ozil and Emery:
Unai Emery claimed that Ozil was rested for the game against Frankfurt midweek but not starting him against Villa showed that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes. The problem between the duo is helping nobody and Edu, our director of football, should intervene to solve the issue.

When Edu’s appointment was announced, Raul Sanllehi told the Arsenal website: “Edu will play a relevant role leading our football vision and ensuring we have – and follow – a solid philosophy through all our football activities.”
Results aside, our long-term vision and having a solid philosophy directly depends on the style of football that we play.
Playing Ozil will not only benefit our forwards but it will also help us play football in the Arsenal way. Edu is responsible for the performance of the manager as well as the team. Him intervening to solve the differences between the duo will be instrumental in helping us reach our goals this season.
