Mikel Arteta was quizzed about Arsenal potentially signing a new right-back before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
The Gunners have been linked with multiple right-backs all summer. Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ futures are up in the air, while although Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares have done well, there’s room for improvement.
At the start of the summer transfer window, many fans were certain that Arsenal would sign a new right-back. However, Arteta’s comments now hint that we will completely ignore strengthening that position.

Arteta: Arsenal have plenty of options at right-back
He said, as per Arsenal.com: “We have different options and different qualities with Hector, Cedric, Calum and Ainsley.
“We had a lot of issues through pre-season and they have missed training sessions through COVID, they got injured and some of them haven’t featured.

“So, we are still looking depending on the opponent and the form of each player for what we’re going to do there.”

Are the Gunners making a big mistake?
Lack of a top-quality right-back is not Arsenal’s biggest problem at the moment, but it’s a concern nonetheless.
We have Kieran Tierney on the other side who is absolutely phenomenal. Just imagine how good Arsenal will fare as a side if we had a player of the same quality at right-back every week.
It sadly looks like Arsenal will not sign a new right-back this summer. Bellerin and Maitland-Niles look set to stay at the Emirates, while Chambers and Cedric aren’t going anywhere either. That blocks a potential incoming, which is a shame, but there’s nothing we can do now.
