Arsenal could be about to make a huge transfer mistake as Victor Osimhen update emerges

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Victor Osimhen in recent months, yet the Gunners could be about to make a huge mistake regarding the Napoli striker.

The north London side are on the hunt for a new centre-forward this summer having come so close to the Premier League title this season, with Osimhen emerging as one of the leading targets for Arsenal.

With a reported release clause worth £110m, the Nigerian international would eclipse the club-record fee the Gunners paid for Declan Rice last summer, a transfer that changed Arsenal’s fortunes for the better.

Yet a new update could indicate that Arsenal are about to make a huge error in their interest for Osimhen ahead of the window opening next week.

Arsenal unwilling to meet Osimhen’s release clause this summer

According to Calcio Napoli 24, Arsenal are not willing to match Osimhen’s release clause, with clubs from Saudi Arabia currently the only parties willing to match the striker’s exit fee despite interest from PSG.

Rated highly by Ian Wright, Osimhen’s style of play is one that could be perfect for Arsenal, with the Napoli star one of the most complete forwards in all of world football even after a below-average season in Italy this year.

Indeed, whilst Arsenal could end up signing a striker this summer for cheaper than £110m and who is coming off a better season than Osimhen, it’s hard to picture any new signing being as exciting as the Napoli frontman.

As we know, the former LOSC Lille star is world-class on his day, something Mikel Arteta could extract with the right training and service, and this latest update could end up backfiring massively for Arsenal.

Gunners have to take the financial risk in signing Osimhen this summer

Arsenal are expected to be one of the biggest spenders in the transfer window yet again this summer, with a superstar signing in attack needed if the Gunners are to really push for the Premier League title next season.

And Osimhen fits this criteria to a tee, with the Napoli talisman ready for a new challenge in his career with Arsenal the ideal destination for the 25-year-old centre-forward.

And whilst £110m is a lot for one player, Arsenal showed last summer that taking the financial risk can be worth it, with Osimhen a dream striker for this Arteta side heading into the new campaign later this summer.
