Arsenal could suddenly be the big winners as Enzo Maresca decides to leave Chelsea

Enzo Maresca and Chelsea parting ways could have a positive impact on Arsenal’s season.

The Gunners are in a league of their own compared to the Blues. Mikel Arteta’s side are 15 points clear of the West Londoners, who were never a threat to them in the title race.

Chelsea’s results since drawing against Arsenal have been awful, and that, combined with problems behind the scenes, has led to Maresca deciding to leave the club.

Fabrizio Romano just tweeted: “Chelsea and Enzo Maresca agree to part company with immediate effect. It’s OVER. Official statement to follow, but all done after tension growing last 24/48h.”

That could be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal.

Enzo Maresca leaving Chelsea is good news for Arsenal

Arsenal are scheduled to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The Gunners have been near-flawless in the competition this season, and they are viewed as the favourites to win it.

Arsenal haven’t won the League Cup for over 30 years, so we’re sure that Arteta has his eyes set on lifting the trophy.

Chelsea would’ve posed a tough test, but Maresca leaving is a major blow for them.

Whoever replaces the Italian at Stamford Bridge will need time to get the Blues playing his way, and that could hurt them in the short-term.

The first leg of the semi-final is scheduled to be played in less than two weeks, and Arsenal will go into the game as the absolute favourites.

It will be interesting to see how the game will pan out, but we think Chelsea’s best chance to beat the Gunners was with Maresca at the helm.

Now that he’s gone, it should be a straightforward victory for the Premier League leaders.

Who could Arsenal face in the Carabao Cup final if they beat Chelsea?

Even though Arsenal will be the favourites to beat Chelsea, the result is not a foregone conclusion.

Arteta will surely make his side take the game seriously, and if the Gunners play at their best level, they will blow the Blues out of the water, irrespective of who their manager is.

If Arsenal do get past Chelsea, they will face one of Manchester City or Newcastle United in the final of the competition.

If Arsenal could only win one of the two – the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup – this season, which one are you picking and why?

Pep Guardiola’s side have won the Carabao Cup five times in the last 10 years, while Eddie Howe’s men are the defending champions.

Facing either side will be a difficult test, but Arsenal are unbeaten against both of them this season, and that should give them the confidence they need to beat them.
