Arsenal fans disagree on Riccardo Calafiori’s future after he got injured again vs Mansfield

Riccardo Calafiori might be one of Arsenal’s best defenders but after picking up another injury against Mansfield Town, some fans are suggesting he needs to be sold.

Calafiori lasted most of the game in fairness this time and was replaced in the 76th minute by youngster Jaden Dixon.

However, it’s not the first time the Italian has picked up a problem this season and over on social media, Arsenal fans have been debating his reliability.

Should Arsenal considering SELLING Riccardo Calafiori already due to his injuries?

Riccardo Calafiori’s latest injury has Arsenal fans torn

Any time a player gets injured, there’s always going to be some element of debate around them, whether it be who will replace said player, or like on this occasion, just how prone to injury they are.

In Riccardo Calafiori’s case, he has indeed been injured and missed games a few times this season.

Arsenal fans are now debating his future over on X, with some very much for him leaving and others racing to defend him.

The debate was kicked off when one fan said ‘Calafiori is great but his reliability is non-existent. Has to go in the summer’.

Naturally, some fans agreed.

“Hate to agree with you but you’re right. Brilliant player with insane potential but the injuries mean he can’t be relied upon. Needs to be sold in the summer while he has value” one fan wrote, while another said:

“He’s not even the best left-back at the club and he just consistently gets injured.”

However, when you delve into the debate, there are plenty of Gunners out there who firmly stand behind Calafiori.

“He drops 8/10 every game he plays” one fan wrote, while another hit back, saying ‘Calafiori is fine bro, not every player needs to be shipped out.”

Other fans pointed out that if Calafiori is to go, then should others follow suit.

“Does that mean Kai Havertz has to go as well then?” one fan questioned, while another added “Insane reactionary take for a player with so much potential”.

Arsenal should definitely keep hold of Riccardo Calafiori

The debate here is an interesting one to get involved with but ultimately, I’m firmly on the side of Arsenal keeping Calafiori.

It just seems so ridiculous to suggest he should be sold over a few unlucky injuries that have cost him.

When he is fit, which in fairness, is more often than not given he’s made 27 appearances all season, Calafiori is Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back and rightly so.

Calafiori’s natural behaviour is to defend first and that fits well with this current Arsenal team.

Selling him already would be simply ridiculous and if the Gunners somehow did make him available, you can guarantee every rival team in England would make a play to sign him.
