Arsenal had three big losers on a night of winners against Aston Villa

Arsenal succeeded on their revenge mission against Aston Villa, beating Unai Emery’s side 4-1 at the Emirates.

The Gunners now have a six-point lead over Aston Villa in the Premier League table, as well as a temporary five-point advantage on Manchester City, before they face Sunderland.

It was a night that Arsenal needed, as Mikel Arteta’s squad have struggled to score of late, but that was forgotten against Villa.

There were no own goals as four different players got their names on the scoresheet, though, while some triumphed, others struggled.

Who was Arsenal’s Man of the Match against Aston Villa?

Arsenal’s win against Aston Villa was a night to forget for three players

The match was everything Arsenal would’ve wished for after a series of lacklustre results, but some players will walk away from the fixture unsatisfied.

Once again, Eberechi Eze didn’t get any Premier League minutes, spending his third consecutive league match on the bench.

The playmaker will be unhappy with his recent lack of game time, but Eze’s situation isn’t as difficult as Ethan Nwaneri’s

Arteta isn’t playing Nwaneri, and made his thoughts on the teenager’s involvement clear against Aston Villa by not even naming the 18-year-old in the squad.

Nwaneri travelled and arrived with his teammates, but didn’t make the cut, watching from the sidelines as a loan exit looks more and more likely.

The two players had a night to forget because of their lack of time on the pitch, while for their teammate, Viktor Gyokeres, problems came for a different reason.

A punishing night for Viktor Gyokeres

Some believe that Gyokeres doesn’t deserve to start at Arsenal right now due to his lack of conviction in front of goal.

Against Villa, Arteta stuck by his summer signing, but once again, the 27-year-old didn’t deliver.

It was a particularly disappointing game for Gyokeres, as after being hooked in the 77th minute, Gabriel Jesus came on and scored with his second touch of the ball.

A change in starting centre-forward looks more likely than it has all season, sounding alarm bells for the Sweden international.
