Arsenal have decided which type of player they want to sign next, rival clubs should be terrified

Arsenal are already thinking ahead after their incredible summer transfer window.

Every fan hoped for good things when Andrea Berta arrived at the club in March, but not even the most optimistic supporter would’ve imagined eight top-class signings.

The focus now is on the pitch, but the Arsenal sporting director has begun planning for the future. He is now looking for a backup striker of a particular profile.

Should Arsenal sign a backup for Viktor Gyokeres?

Arsenal want to sign a player like Karl Etta Eyong

Karl Etta Eyong has become a popular name since the start of the season because of his brilliant performances for Levante.

The Cameroon forward has scored six goals and provided three assists in La Liga so far; only Kylian Mbappe, Julian Alvarez and Robert Lewandowski have managed more goals.

A number of clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on Etta Eyong, including Arsenal. But it’s not just him the Gunners are looking at.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has revealed that Arsenal are looking at a striker of Eyong’s profile to come in and play as a backup for Viktor Gyokeres.

The 22-year-old is a strong, fast and powerful striker who is capable of bulldozing his way past opposition defenders. That, in a way, is similar to Gyokeres’ profile, but the Levante star has been likened to bigger names.

Eyong has been compared to Erling Haaland, while the player is said to see himself as more like Harry Kane. That is the type of striker Arsenal want.

Jacobs said on The Football Terrace: “The other area is still, I’m told, a number nine. Not a starter like Viktor Gyokeres, a younger kind of player. Mikel Merino appears to be next in line, and he’s a makeshift number nine.

“Etta Eyong is the kind of profile several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, like the look of. Some compare him to the next Erling Haaland. The player himself thinks he’s more in the mould of Harry Kane.

“I’m not saying for Arsenal it will be Eyong – you have Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and even Chelsea looking at the player for the summer.

“That is the kind of age, the profile, the physicality, the target man that ticks a lot of boxes for Arsenal.”

Arsenal have finally learnt their lesson with strikers

Arsenal had needed a new striker for many years before they landed Gyokeres in the summer.

The Gunners, for one reason or another, failed to sign one in consecutive windows under Edu Gaspar, and that cost them the Premier League title on more than one occasion.

Berta doesn’t want that to happen again, so he is already looking at a younger striker who can compete as well as succeed Gyokeres one day.

That shows Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have learnt their lesson, and the fact that they are looking at someone similar to Haaland or Kane should be scary for other clubs because it could make the Gunners unstoppable.
