Arsenal may have the chance to offload Fabio Vieira this month.

Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira is attracting interest from AS Monaco and one other French side.

The Gunners paid £34 million in the summer of 2022 to bring Vieira to the Emirates Stadium. Since then, though, the 23-year-old has struggled to live up to his price tag.

Mikel Arteta may well be tempted to cut his losses on the Portuguese ace, especially as the funds raised from his sale could then be reinvested in areas of the squad that are in urgent need of upgrades and reinforcements.

Vieira has made 46 appearances for Arsenal in total, across all competitions, since his arrival at the north London club. In this time he has chipped in with 3 goals and 10 assists. So far this season, he has contributed 1 goal and 3 assists in 13 outings.

His last appearance in the Premier League, though, came in early November, when Vieira picked up a straight red card against Burnley. That sending off earned him a three-match ban, and he then succumbed to an injury which has kept him sidelined ever since.

Why Arsenal should sell Fabio Vieira now

If a decent offer were to come forward for Vieira in the coming days, Arsenal would be wise to seriously consider accepting it. The player has been at the club for a season-and-a-half, and has done little show he can contribute significantly on a consistent basis.

Meanwhile, a lack of transfer funds is a real problem for Arsenal right now, which has hampered them in this current transfer window so far, as they are yet to make a single signing. Arteta is keen to add a striker and a defender to his ranks, but without a significant sale, it will be all but impossible for him to do so.

The sale of Vieira, who Arsenal should be able to attract a decent fee for, given his relative youth and raw talent, could provide the Gunners with the cash they need to bolster their squad in key areas.

Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, having fallen agonisingly short of that triumph last time around. The chance to invest in the squad this winter would boost their chances of being crowned champions at the end of the current campaign. Selling Vieira now could give the Gunners the resources they need to improve their title chances.
