Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both pushing to make a new signing before the transfer window shuts.

The two North London rivals have had fairly contrasting seasons.

Arsenal have had their problems but they’re still second in the table and are through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Spurs, on the other hand, are currently 15th in the Premier League table and could soon find themselves in a relegation battle.

That is utterly humiliating, and Arsenal now have an opportunity to inflict more pain on Tottenham in the coming days.

Arsenal could embarrass Tottenham by signing Mathys Tel

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in signing Mathys Tel in the final days of the transfer window.

The Bayern Munich striker is ready to leave Germany, and reports have claimed that his most likely destination is the Premier League.

Learning that, Tottenham made Tel their top target in this window. They were ready to pay big money and even reached a verbal agreement with Bayern to sign him.

To add to that, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy flew to Munich to convince Tel, but the Frenchman rejected Tottenham immediately.

However, Tel remains interested in a move to the Premier League, and it has been reported that Arsenal are still one to watch in this race.

If Mikel Arteta picks up the phone and convinces Tel to move to the Emirates in the final days of the window, it would be absolutely humiliating for Tottenham.

There is no reason why Arsenal cannot pull off this deal.

Why Mathys Tel could say yes to Arsenal after rejecting Tottenham

Tottenham fans think they are on the same level as Arsenal, but it’s not even close.

The Gunners are better than Spurs in every single department. Arteta is better than Postecoglou, and almost all Arsenal players are superior to those at Tottenham.

Just looking at the league positions of the two clubs is enough to explain the difference – Arsenal are second while Tottenham are 15th. To add to that, Arteta’s side can offer Champions League football, whilst Spurs are stuck in the Europa League.

All of the above factors should be enough to convince Tel, who will want to move to a big club if he leaves Bayern.

Arsenal would be a great move for him, and he could prove to be the difference-maker in the Premier League title race if he makes the switch to the Emirates.
