Arsenal will face Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners got the job done against Chelsea on Tuesday night, and Pep Guardiola’s side did the same 24 hours later against Newcastle United.

The title rivals will now battle it out at Wembley for the first trophy of the season, and it will be a very interesting game to watch.

Arsenal may have just received a big boost ahead of that game.

Pep Guardiola confirms goalkeeper decision for Arsenal vs Manchester City Carabao Cup final clash

Even though Manchester City are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago, they will not be easy to beat.

The two sides met in the Premier League this season in what was a really strange game to watch.

City took the lead through Erling Haaland in the first half, but after the break, Guardiola decided to park the bus against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Summer signing Gianluigi Donnarumma was in goal for the visitors, and just as he did with PSG in the Champions League, he frustrated Arsenal.

If it wasn’t for Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time goal, Arsenal would’ve lost that game.

However, in the Carabao Cup final, Donnarumma will not play, Guardiola has confirmed. James Trafford will start in his place.

He said, as per BBC Sport: “I said from the beginning he is a top keeper. He has an incredible future ahead of him.

“He is going to play in the first Carabao Cup final for him.”

Arsenal will be relieved that Gianluigi Donnarumma will not face them in the Carabao Cup final

Many Arsenal fans feel that Donnarumma is the reason why they did not win the Champions League last season.

The Italian made a total of eight saves over two legs against the Gunners and stopped a few guaranteed goals. He was unbelievable in those games.

Even in the clash between Arsenal and Manchester City earlier this season, Donnarumma was incredible, and there must be a feeling inside the Emirates that he could stop them again.

However, after Guardiola confirmed that his number one will not play in the Carabao Cup final, Arsenal players will breathe a sigh of relief, especially as they have a good record against Trafford.

In the two games the Englishman has played against the Gunners, he has conceded eight goals.

Arsenal should take advantage of that to end their trophy drought.
