Viktor Gyokeres has helped Sweden reach the knockout stages of the World Cup.
At one point during qualifying, the Blågult looked down and out and were extremely unlikely to even get into the competition.
However, Gyokeres scored a hat-trick in the play-off semi-final before finding a late winner in the final to bring his country to the World Cup.
Now, Sweden have a Round of 32 clash to look forward to, but their opponents are not who Gyokeres would’ve wanted.
🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?
Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?
Viktor Gyokeres’ France and William Saliba nightmare has come true
Sweden will face France in the Round of 32 of the World Cup.
Didier Deschamps’ side breezed through the group stages. They won all three of their games, scoring 10 and conceding just twice in the process.
Les Bleus will be the favourites to go all the way, which means they are expected to get past Sweden without too much difficulty.
Viktor Gyokeres perhaps knew that already.
Not too long ago, the Arsenal striker was asked to name the country and player he really doesn’t want to face in the World Cup.
Gyokeres named France and his Gunners teammate William Saliba as the ones he simply does not want to play against.
Unfortunately for him now, the Swede has no choice but to take on the French national team, and he will go one-on-one against Saliba.
It will be interesting to see who will come out on top in that battle.

Viktor Gyokeres can be proud of his efforts for Sweden
Gyokeres is arguably the biggest reason why Sweden are even in this World Cup.
In the group stages, the Swede scored a goal and provided an assist in three games, and his all-round game has been fantastic as well.
Gyokeres has even created more chances than Lionel Messi in the World Cup so far, which is really impressive.
Even if Sweden get knocked out in the Round of 32, the Arsenal striker can be very proud of everything he has done for his country.
He will also have enough rest before returning for pre-season, which would be another huge positive.
