Everybody knows that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is obsessed with his players winning duels.
The Spaniard has made the Gunners top-class in almost every single area of the pitch, with each player tasked with winning their individual battles.
That characteristic is looked at while Arsenal are signing new players as well, which is why the links to Yan Diomande make a lot of sense.
Watch this video and tell us: Should Arsenal sign Yan Diomande?
Arsenal target Yan Diomande’s duel-winning stats are off the charts
RB Leipzig star Diomande is expected to be a very popular name in the summer transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international has been one of the most impressive performers in the Bundesliga, and it’s not just his attacking prowess that’s catching everyone’s eye.
Arsenal’s interest in Diomande didn’t surprise anyone as they need a left-winger to replace one of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard next summer.
But the Leipzig attacker’s duels may just be the reason why Mikel Arteta wants him.

In the Bundesliga this season, Diomande has won a staggering 250 duels so far this season. That is more than any other player in the division. [Bundesliga.com]
Players winning that many duels is not unimaginable, but for an attacker to do so is truly mind-blowing because the stat is not something you would associate forward players with.
But having the incredible ability to win duels is a huge trait to have in the Premier League, which is why Arteta will love him at Arsenal.

Agree or disagree? Yan Diomande could be Arsenal’s duel-winning machine
Yan Diomande does a lot more than winning duels
Diomande’s duel-winning stats are not the only thing that Arteta will love; some of his other stats are outstanding as well.
In the Bundesliga this season, the Leipzig attacker averages more take-ons than any other player – 4.5 per 90 minutes. He has also won back possession 82 times – Bayern Munich star Luiz Diaz is the only attacker who has managed more.
Furthermore, Diomande has created the third-most chances by a winger in the entire division – 31 in 20 games.
All of the above numbers are impressive on their own, but when you consider the fact that he is doing that at the age of 19, it will blow your mind.
These are the reasons why Arsenal want to sign him, and we think he will be an outstanding addition to Arteta’s side – for the present and the future.
