Despite the recent comments from one Arsenal player, Mikel Arteta has already made it clear that he is not in his plans.
Mikel Arteta will already have a clear idea of what he wants his Arsenal squad to look like when the new season kicks off.
There will be comings and goings in the transfer market, and the manager will have to be adaptable, but there will certainly be a number of Arsenal players that he has already made a firm decision on.
The Gunners have already sought to gain a head start on their rivals this summer. Arteta has taken a group of Arsenal players to a training camp in Marbella. He will be hoping that this extra work will pay off at the start of the season when his side ought to be in good shape to hit the ground running.
Of course, those players taking part in international tournaments this summer aren’t attending the camp in the Spanish coastal city, and they aren’t the only absentees either.

No second chance for Nuno Tavares at Arsenal
Nuno Tavares spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest, but failed to make a particularly positive impression at the City Ground.
Despite this, the Portuguese left-back is not ready to give up on his Arsenal dream. As quoted by Sport Witness, the 24-year-old recently stated: “Yes, obviously, I have in mind to return to Arsenal and have a good pre-season.
“I always try to do my work in the best way, then it’s up to the club to decide whether I’m a valid option or not, but I have a strong mentality. I know what I’m capable of.”
Whilst Tavares might still be bullish about his prospects of making the grade at Arsenal, Arteta has already sent a clear message to the player with his exclusion from the Marbella training camp.
Tavares was not competing at Euro 2024 with Portugal this summer, yet was still not invited by the manager to join the group in Spain. This should tell the former Benfica man everything he needs to know about his chances of playing for the Gunners again.
What next for Tavares after Mikel Arteta snub
Arsenal will want to move on Tavares on a permanent basis this summer, not that they will be able to attract a particularly big fee for the full-back.
Lazio have shown some interest in signing Tavares, and the Gunners will be hoping that the Serie A outfit come forward with a formal offer before too long.
