Arsenal might want to add another midfielder to their ranks this summer but after watching that World Cup final, it simply cannot be Enzo Fernandez.
Fernandez is one of the players Arsenal are being linked with this summer as they look to add to their squad ahead of their title defence this coming season.
Of course, we’ve all watched on this summer at the World Cup as Fernandez helped Argentina to yet another final, especially with his fine goal against England.
However, while that goal and his overall tournament has been decent enough, he proved tonight on the biggest stage why Arsenal have to avoid him.

Enzo Fernandez does not fit with Arsenal’s team ethos
Chelsea fans have watched Enzo for a few seasons now and they know full well what he is all about.
He is a talented midfield player with a goal in his locker but they also know he is a master of the dark arts if needed and crucially, he can be ill disciplined.
While red cards are not usually his thing, he often breaches the 10 booking mark in the league and in the 2024 season, racked up a whopping 14 yellow cards in the league alone.
Once again tonight, after being booked for bad-mouthing the referee once again – something he had done more than once during the game – he then ludicrously committed a second foul to get sent off just as the game was heading into extra-time.
Once again, Fernandez showed his lack of discipline as he refused to leave the pitch for a good 5 minutes.
On this evidence alone and what we’ve seen from Enzo at times, he just cannot move into Arsenal’s midfield.
In terms of talent, yes, he might have enough in the locker. But to be Premier League champions, you need all your players doing the business both tactically and in terms of being disciplined.
Mikel Arteta finally seems to have got rid of the needless red cards that once infested this Arsenal team.
Adding Fernandez simply increases that probability again and quite frankly, it’s not needed.
