Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has proven people wrong on multiple occasions over the years.
The Spaniard has been questioned time and again at the Emirates Stadium, and somehow, he manages to come out looking like a genius more often than not.
That has happened again following his decision regarding Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta will become an Arsenal legend!
Mikel Arteta’s decision to keep Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard at Arsenal was genius
Trossard and Martinelli received a lot of criticism over the summer.
The Brazil international was very poor in each of the last two seasons, and several fans wanted Arsenal to cash in on him during the transfer window.
Trossard, who turned 30 last year, was also seen as a player who was declining, and supporters felt that it was time to let him go as well.

There was a big demand for Arsenal to sign one of Nico Williams or Rodrygo, or both, in place of the two Arsenal wingers, but Arteta decided against it.
Now, when you compare the stats of all four players this season, you can see that Martinelli and Trossard are outperforming the two La Liga stars.
Arteta was heavily criticised when he chose to keep hold of the Arsenal duo, but he has turned out to be right again.
| Games | Minutes | Goals | Assists | |
| Gabriel Martinelli | 13 | 501 | 5 | 1 |
| Leandro Trossard | 16 | 948 | 5 | 5 |
| Nico Williams | 11 | 690 | 2 | 2 |
| Rodrygo | 17 | 509 | 0 | 3 |
Mikel Arteta has made his feelings clear about Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli’s futures
Many Arsenal fans wanted Trossard and Martinelli gone, but that thought didn’t even enter Arteta’s mind in the summer transfer window.
After the North London Derby win against Tottenham, a game in which Trossard scored and was excellent, the Arsenal manager made it clear that he blocked the Belgian’s exit.
Mikel Arteta on Leandro Trossard’s transfer status
As for Martinelli, Arteta ruled out a sale when the summer transfer window was still open.
Just a few days before deadline day, when asked if the Brazil international could be sold, the Arsenal boss said, as per the Evening Standard: “No. I think Gabi has been a super important player for us, and he’s going to remain very, very, very important.
“The fact that we have options with different qualities, that’s going to fulfil what we want, because every opponent is going to require different things, and then the state, the moment, the way that those players are impacting the game – that competition is needed.
“We have him in many other areas on the pitch, and he’s needed, especially in the front line, to start the game and to finish the game. So, I’m very happy with what we have.”
