Forget Nico Williams, Mikel Arteta should sign Champions League winger compared to Thierry Henry

Arsenal face Brentford in the Premier League but can be forgiven for having on eye on future endeavours.

Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid has put Mikel Arteta’s side in a tremendous position to earn a spot in the Champions League semi final for the first time since 2009.

Andrea Berta was at the Emirates Stadium to witness the Gunners dominate the European Champions and Jude Bellingham thought Real Madrid were ‘lucky’ to only concede three on the night.

The summer transfer window is looming and whilst there is a feel good factor at Arsenal right now, Berta knows the importance of getting it right and signing an alternative to Nico Williams could get him off to the best possible start.

Arsenal should sign Bradley Barcola amid PSG contract stall

As per L’Equipe, PSG winger Bradley Barcola is currently stalling on signing a new contract at the club with his focus on helping his side secure an invincible season in the league and winning the Champions League.

Barcola’s pace and direct approach is exactly what Arsenal will be looking for in their summer recruitment and he tore Axel Disasi apart when coming on against Aston Villa in the quarter final tie recently.

French Football Weekly expert and former France international Olivier Kapo has compared the talent of Barcola to Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Kapo stated: “He has success in front of goal, this ease a bit like Thierry Henry. He can shoot on the ground, in the air. In one on one, he will try to hit the ball. It’s a talent that must be supported.”

Barcola statistics compared to Nico Williams this season

Arsenal fans are keen on Nico Williams and the Gunners have targeted the Spanish winger for a long time in hope that they can lure him to North London eventually.

However, should Barcola stall on a new PSG contract and look to leave Paris, the Gunners would be wise to change their target given the form shown this campaign.

Granted, Barcola plays in a more dominant team currently but that will also be the case should he make the switch to Arteta’s side and has shown that he can produce the goods in front of goal.

He also has completed more progressive carries and passes than Williams, showing that he would be a key component of breaking down low blocks – something Arsenal have struggled with this season.
