Emile Smith Rowe ought to be hoping that Arsenal don’t sign Julian Brandt.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are keen to secure the services of Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt.

The Bundesliga outfit paid £22 million to sign Brandt in 2019, and the 27-year-old has since developed into a top class player, versatile enough to shine on either flank or in an attacking midfield role through the middle.

One man who would welcome Brandt to the Emirates Stadium is Kai Havertz, who is close friends with his Dortmund-based compatriot, and rates him very highly, having previously compared him to Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.

Mikel Arteta would also surely love to have the 45-cap Germany international at his disposal.

However, Hale End academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe would surely suffer if Brandt were to join the north London club.

Why Arsenal signing Julian Brandt would be a disaster for Emile Smith Rowe

Smith Rowe’s Arsenal career is already hanging by a thread. Injury issues have seen him slip down the pecking order, and he is currently sidelined with a fitness complaint once more.

Since the start of last season, the 23-year-old has managed just 16 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, of which only one has come as a member of the starting XI.

There is no doubting the three-cap England international’s raw ability, but if Arteta can’t rely on him to be fit and available when needed then that is a major problem. On top of fitness concerns, Smith Rowe also have plenty of competition for game time to contend with. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira, and Martin Odegaard all feature in the same parts of the pitch as him.

In terms of adding to these obstacles standing in the way of Smith Rowe, the arrival of Brandt would surely represent the final nail in the coffin of his Arsenal career.
