Defending Premier League champions Liverpool whimpered to another poor result against Tottenham today and Arsenal can learn valuable lessons for next season.
Instead of heroically defending their title, Liverpool have been awful all season and manager Arne Slot is under pressure.
Now, speaking after Liverpool conceded late against Spurs, Jamie Carragher has made a telling comment about the Reds and it’s everything Arsenal are not.

So much has been made of Arsenal not being pretty on the eye and needing to grind out wins and that has almost been turned into a negative.
However, speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher suggested this is something Liverpool’s players do not do.
“Awful performance. Considering the opposition and I don’t want to be disrespectful to Tottenham right now but they’ve been the worst team in the league now for a few months. Exactly who you want to play, at home but to put in a performance like that but it has been like that all season,” Carragher said.
“The big question on everyone’s lips is it down to the manager or the make up of the squad? Could a new manager completely revitalise these players, bring the energy and intensity back into this team? I’m not so sure I think a lot goes back to the summer with the profile of the players coming in.
“There’s too many players who just want to play when the ball is at their feet. They don’t want to dig in when the opposition has the ball and make it difficult and that’s why it’s so difficult to play against this team.”

Ultimately, this comment from Carragher simply points towards why Arsenal deserve so much credit for how they’re handling things this season.
Carragher’s issue with Liverpool’s players basically not doing the hard work is exactly what Arsenal’s players do achieve.
As we saw this weekend, the Gunners kept going, kept grinding against Everton until eventually they got their rewards when Max Dowman produced the goods.
We’ve seen this time and time again this season with Mikel Arteta’s side. They stay in games, even when the opposition is in the ascendancy and then strike when it matters. Indeed, Arsenal have won by a single goal margin 11 times this season, with five of those coming in 1-0 wins.
That is no coincidence, and is a trait within the squad that Arteta and his experienced players have instilled.
There are on a course to be champions this season. And you can rest assured that looking at what Liverpool have done, Arsenal will not be making the same mistakes.
