Lucasz Fabianski: An apology…

I hereby offer Lucasz Fabianksi a public apology for doubting his immense ability as a top flight keeper. There, I said it. But I had to really, didn’t I? After calling him every name under the sun following his dismal attempt to see of Andy Carroll in the 1-0 defeat at home to the Geordies and questioning his credentials, I now bow to his amazing skill and huge potential.
He was absolutely faultless in last night’s crucial 2-0 win over Wolves, who put him and us under immense pressure for most of the 90 minutes. His save at the death kept us alive and it meant Marouane Chamakh could go on and nick his second to seal the victory.
What a difference to Sunday. Every man Jack of our lot played out of their skin and the workrate against a fit, organised and determined Wolves was outstanding. Yes, there were times when we had to weather the storm and spent large spells of the game chasing the ball with our backs to the wall. But you always sensed we could break and score.
We can get back in the title race playing like this and the next challenge now is Everton away on Sunday. Other than Fabianksi, I don’t want to pick any other player out for a fine display. All the plaudits must be delivered to the Pole.
I salute you, sir, and ask your forgiveness that I ever doubted you. It shows what I know about football. I am an idiot. The only defence I can offer for my vile diatribe against you earlier this week is that I was writing as a hurt Arsenal fan of many years standing who had just seen our boys turned over my northern monkeys who had just been promoted.
That is all…
