Arsenal take on Bayern Munich after they face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.

The Gunners have had a fine start in the Champions League so far. They have won all four of their games without conceding a single goal.

Their toughest test will be on Wednesday, when Bayern Munich come to the Emirates. The Germans have inflicted a lot of pain on Arsenal over the years, and games against them are never easy.

However, Mikel Arteta will have identified a major weakness in Bayern’s game – set-pieces.

Bayern Munich’s set-piece weakness was exposed just before Arsenal clash

Arsenal need to be beating clubs like Bayern Munich if they want to go all the way in the Champions League.

The Gunners showed last season that they can dominate the big sides. Arteta’s men thrashed Real Madrid home and away and even beat Paris Saint-Germain early in the competition.

However, Bayern are in incredible form at the moment. They are at the top of the Bundesliga table, having won 10 of their first 11 games. They have scored 41 goals in those fixtures.

Six of those came against Freiburg on Saturday, but Vincent Kompany’s men went 2-0 down after just 17 minutes in that game.

Both goals came from corners – the Bavarians were awful with their defending and showed a big weakness that Arsenal can exploit.

The Gunners are the best team in the world in set-pieces, and after watching Bayern’s mistakes, we are sure Nicolas Jover will come up with a plan to hurt them.

Mikel Arteta’s comment about set-pieces.

“Ten years ago. I wasn’t here but ten years ago, I said, ‘it is a massive thing to do that’ and I started to have a vision, try to implement a method and try to be surrounded by the best people to deliver that.”

Mikel Arteta speaking about set-pieces in a press conference after Arsenal’s win over Atletico Madrid in October 2025.

Arsenal have a secret weapon to use against Bayern Munich

Arsenal have a terrible record against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Gunners have won just three of their 14 meetings against the Germans and are winless in each of their last five fixtures.

However, things could be very different on Wednesday because of a secret weapon – Piero Hincapie.

The Ecuador international, who was at Bayer Leverkusen, has played 10 games against Bayern Munich in the past and has lost just three times.

None of those defeats have come in his last five games against them, so he clearly knows what it takes to get the better of the Bundesliga leaders.

With Gabriel Magalhaes ruled out due to injury, Hincapie could start, and he could be the man to change Arsenal’s terrible luck against Bayern.
