Mikel Arteta could be about to make a brutal decision and drop one Arsenal star vs Man City

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Premier League after their win over Athletic Club in the Champions League.

The Gunners were handed a difficult start to the season, with games against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City coming up in the first five games.

Arsenal have done fairly well so far, but the games against City are always a huge test, and recent encounters have made this a feisty affair.

Mikel Arteta will know he needs his best players on the pitch, and that could lead to one new signing losing his place in the side.

Cristhian Mosquera could be benched for Arsenal vs Man City

Cristhian Mosquera has been an unbelievable signing for Arsenal.

The Spanish defender was brought in as a backup by Arteta in the summer, and he was expected to only play a few games in his debut season.

However, due to William Saliba’s injury at Anfield, Mosquera has had to fill in for the Frenchman, and that is no easy task at all.

Despite the difficulties, Mosquera has been incredible at the back for Arsenal. He hasn’t put a foot wrong in the games he has played so far and completely deserves to keep his place in the side.

However, William Saliba returned to the matchday squad against Athletic Club, and we expect him to get the nod when Manchester City come to the Emirates on Sunday.

It will be a brutal decision to leave Mosquera out after his brilliant performances in defence recently, but it is the right thing to do.

Facing an in-form Erling Haaland would be a good test for the Spaniard, but Saliba is the obvious choice to contain the Norwegian – he has done it plenty of times in the past.

As for Mosquera, he will get more chances in the coming months, but on Sunday, we think he will have to spend his time on the bench.

Cristhian Mosquera will not be out of Arsenal’s XI for long

It is very likely that Mosquera will make way for Saliba when Arsenal take on Manchester City on Sunday, but he won’t be out for long.

After the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side, Mikel Arteta will lead his men to Port Vale for their first game in the Carabao Cup this season.

Mosquera will almost definitely start that game, and we expect to see him alongside fellow summer signing Piero Hincapie.

That will definitely be an interesting watch, but the focus now is on Manchester City, and we can’t wait to see how the Gunners will fare on Sunday.
