Mikel Arteta has to do one thing to get perfect revenge after Newcastle mock him on social media

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal bowed out of the Carabao Cup after a disappointing defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The Gunners were nowhere near their best on Wednesday night. It was a game where every Arsenal player had to be up for it, but most of them looked exhausted right from the start.

Goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon sealed a place in the final for the home side, and the North Londoners will now have to sit on this defeat for over a week.

Arteta will not be happy with his side’s performance, and we’re sure he will not be too pleased with what Newcastle United have done on social media either.

Newcastle United mock Mikel Arteta on social media after beating Arsenal

Arteta has become a villain of sorts to rival clubs, fans, pundits and certain sections of the media.

Everything the Arsenal manager does is viewed under a microscope and blown out of proportion. We’ve seen it happen time and time again.

Now, Newcastle United’s official social channels have decided to jump on the bandwagon.

After the game at St James’ Park on Wednesday night, the Magpies posted a picture of the ball used in the Carabao Cup and called it ‘the culprit’.

For those who don’t get the reference, Arteta made a comment about the ball used in the Cup after Arsenal lost the first leg at the Emirates.

“It’s very different to the Premier League ball,” Arteta said in January. “You have to adapt to that because it flies differently, when you touch it the grip is very different as well.”

Unsurprisingly, that was blown out of proportion, leading people to think that he was using it as an excuse. That has led to Newcastle mocking him with their post on social media.

How Arteta can get the perfect revenge on Newcastle

Newcastle’s post is a bit annoying if you’re an Arsenal fan, but it’s just football banter.

The irony here, however, is that the same people who were infuriated by Myles Lewis-Skelly copying Erling Haaland’s celebration are laughing at the post above.

Arteta will never publicly comment about Newcastle’s post, but he will have a great opportunity to get his revenge on the Toon.

Once the summer transfer window opens, Arteta should go all out to lure Alexander Isak to Arsenal. Nothing would be better than snatching their best player away.

If Arsenal can do that, we hope they’ll publish a post of their own to give it back to the Magpies – in a friendly and harmless way, of course.
