Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has a big summer ahead, as he will be in charge of some huge decisions within the squad.
The Gunners need some changes during the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta needing some more firepower across his frontline in particular.
While all of the focus from fans is on who Arsenal will sign, there will need to be some attention paid to transfer exits, too.
There is some frustration surrounding sales at the Emirates Stadium in the past few years, and it’s something that Arteta isn’t helping Andrea Berta with, in particular.

Mikel Arteta’s stance on players doesn’t help Andrea Berta with Arsenal sales
Arsenal haven’t always been the best club at selling players historically, especially compared to some of their rivals.
The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have honed their craft when it comes to sales, capable of picking the right time to sell a player at the right price.
Arsenal’s record transfer sale is just £35 million, which was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in 2017.

It shows how long it has been since Arsenal have landed a top fee for a player, outlining the tough task Berta has to improve the selling power to raise funds.
However, even with that in mind, it’s made even tougher by Mikel Arteta.
The Arsenal boss makes it very clear when a player isn’t in his plans anymore, making it difficult to drive a higher price for them.
Some stars just won’t feature for the manager, who is dealing in points, but isn’t doing too many favours to the sporting director as a result.

Arsenal must increase sale potential in the PSR era
Arsenal have slowly worked towards making better sales in the past year, with Hale End academy duo Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah landing some decent fees.
However, the Gunners need to get themselves even closer to their full sale potential, and there is some hope that Berta can do just that.
Some of that will be down to timing, picking the right time to sell a player at the right price.
There is also a role for Arteta to play in making it less obvious that a player isn’t in his plans, keeping their price high.
In the PSR era, where the Gunners need to keep their profit and loss accounts ticking over to make the signings they want, it’s imperative to find ways to maximise revenue streams.
Player sales aren’t guaranteed, but they are an incredible boost to have.
