Willian is widely regarded as Arsenal’s worst signing under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners boss has mostly been excellent with his recruitment and has signed many top-class players over the last six years.
However, he has got it wrong on a few occasions, and although Raheem Sterling is right up there with the worst, we think Willian takes the top spot.
Now, Arteta could be about to make another similar signing – Bernardo Silva.
Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?
Mikel Arteta wants to sign Bernardo Silva for Arsenal
Silva has announced that he will be leaving Manchester City as a free agent at the end of the season.
The Portugal international is one of the best players we have seen in the Premier League for a long time. He has been incredible for the Sky Blues and has played a huge role in their success.
Even against Arsenal last weekend, Silva looked really good, and we’re sure he will have plenty of suitors once his contract expires this summer.
ESPN’s Bruno Andrade revealed on SportsCenter Brasil that the Gunners, along with Barcelona, are interested in signing the City star once he becomes a free agent.

Mikel Arteta knows the former Monaco man really well, having worked with him at the Etihad, and history has shown that he likes signing players he has a relationship with.
Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Sterling are all examples of that, and we won’t be surprised at all if Silva follows in their footsteps this summer.
However, we think this is a bad idea.

Bernardo Silva to Arsenal on a free transfer – yes or no?
Bernardo Silva could become Arsenal’s new Willian
Firstly, we know Silva is an excellent player and has the ability to change games for any side. On paper, he would be a great signing, but he shouldn’t even be considered.
When Arsenal signed Willian from Chelsea, he was 32 years old and had just come off a season where he had directly contributed to 20 goals. He was brought in as an experienced Premier League option who could play in multiple positions.
Silva will turn 32 before the start of the next campaign, and he has had a good season too. Like Willian, he is an experienced Premier League player who can play in many roles as well.
There are a lot of similarities between the two players for Arsenal, and there is a big risk that Silva could end up being as bad as Willian.
For that reason, we think the Gunners should look elsewhere this summer.
