Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has officially been appointed as the new manager of Luton Town FC.
Wilshere had been a prominent coach in the Arsenal youth system, overseeing the under-18s for over two years.
After a short spell as an assistant at Norwich City, the ex-England international decided to begin searching for a role as a head coach.
Luton, who currently sit 11th in League One, have taken a chance on Arsene Wenger’s disciple. He will assume the role in the dugout at Kenilworth Road imminently.
With Wilshere taking his first job in management, here is a ranking of all six players who played under Wenger at Arsenal between 2010 and 2018 and their coaching careers.
Ranking each 2010-2018 Arsenal players’ managerial careers
6. Bacary Sagna
Many fans may not be aware that former Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna is currently in a managerial role.
The Frenchman assumed his first coaching position in January of this year, taking over Banaat FC, an Emirati Women’s team.
Sagna has gotten off to a promising start at Banaat, who currently sit fourth in the UAE Women’s League after seven matches.
5. Sol Campbell
Sol Campbell just about qualifies for this list as he made a short return to the club as a player during the 2009/10 season.
While Campbell backs himself as one of the best defenders ever, he certainly can’t claim to be in this elite bracket from a coaching perspective.

The former centre-back endured two torrid manager spells in the late 2010s, one at Macclesfield Town, who he narrowly kept in League One, and another at Southend, who he relegated to League Two.
He currently has a 22.6% win rate as a head coach.
4. Thierry Henry
Like Campbell, Thierry Henry is eligible for this list because of his famous return to the North London club in 2012.
The legendary striker hasn’t enjoyed a particularly successful coaching career, despite holding some high-profile positions.
Henry lasted just three months in the dugout at Monaco, leaving the French club in a perilous position in the Ligue 1 relegation zone at the time.
While he enjoyed a much more promising stint at MLS side Montreal Impact, leading the Canadian team to their first play-off for four years, he only spent just over a year in the role.

3. Robin van Persie
Robin van Persie enjoyed a promising start to his managerial career at Eredivisie side Heerenveen, which saw Feyenoord swoop in and appoint him as their head coach.
Leading the Rotterdam-based side to third in the Dutch top flight last season, his team have started the new campaign excellently.
Feyenoord currently sit top of the Eredivisie after eight matches, having won seven and drawn one.
Van Persie was named Rinus Michels Manager of the Month in August, and is garnering praise for the way he’s setting his team up.
2. Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas is one of the brightest young coaches in Europe right now, and is already being touted for big jobs in the future.
The Spaniard was appointed as Como’s boss in the summer of 2024, taking charge immediately after they’d won promotion to Serie A.

Leading the Italian side to a tenth-place finish in their first season back in the top flight, they currently sit eighth this term, and are gunning for a place in Europe.
Fabregas has been lauded for his innovative tactical ideas, and was approached by Inter Milan to become their head coach over the summer.
1. Mikel Arteta
By far and away the most successful of Wenger’s disciples, Mikel Arteta has been in the managerial hotspot at the Emirates for almost six years now.
In this time, the divisive coach has overseen Arsenal’s rise from mid-table mediocrity to perennial title challengers.
He now merely needs a piece of major silverware to get the recognition that he deserves.
