Mikel Arteta’s team still lead the way in the Premier League title race following the weekend’s action, but the squad appear frustrated by the result.
Arsenal conceded a 94th-minute goal away at the Stadium of Light, as Brian Brobbey beat Gabriel Magalhaes to a header and sent his effort past David Raya.
Arteta said he felt sick after the Gunners’ eight-game run without conceding came to an end, and the missed opportunity to extend their lead at the top.
But the response to the draw has been quite telling from several players, especially Jurrien Timber and Bukayo Saka.

Mikel Arteta has changed Arsenal’s mindset following Sunderland draw
It’s clear as day to see that Mikel Arteta has changed Arsenal’s mindset following the team’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland.
Previously, the Gunners may have looked at a point away at a venue like the Stadium of Light and taken it quite comfortably, but that certainly wasn’t the case against the Black Cats.
This Arsenal team will know what needs to change for them to get over the line in the title race, and they will be aiming for as close to perfection as possible.
Saka and Timber agreed that the result against Sunderland was not good enough and have insisted that they will be ready to go again after the international break.
Both players took to social media, with Saka stating: “Tough one to take yesterday. I want to thank all of our supporters that travelled so far, we appreciate you. See you all after the break!”
Meanwhile, the Dutch international wrote: “Tough game yesterday after a good series of results. Some big games coming up after the break! Buckle up, all together as one.”
Arsenal’s right-hand side pairing were clearly fuming at the result, and it’s great to see the players’ mentality is one of defiance.
