The North London Derby is arguably the biggest game of the season for every Arsenal fan and the pre-match jitters have already kicked in. Both sides will come into the game on the back of a loss but Spurs’ loss to Newcastle at home would certainly have hurt them more.

The midfield conundrum

The team selection will certainly be a massive headache for Unai Emery. Every one of our midfielders will be gunning for a start after positive starts to the campaign. Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock have been brilliant so far but Emery might have to be shrewd regarding their starting place on Sunday.

After their loss against the Magpies, Spurs will no doubt come in with their strongest side to the Emirates. That will almost certainly include Christian Eriksen who is arguably their best player. The Dane’s creativity will have to be kept limited throughout the game and that will require Emery to play his best midfield destroyer – Lucas Torreira.

A midfield pivot of Granit Xhaka and Torreira with Dani Ceballos ahead of them is Arsenal’s most balanced midfield. That is unless Emery decides to bring in Mesut Ozil, which would be a massive risk considering that he is yet to play a single minute this season.

Ceballos will certainly find more room to operate on Sunday as compared to the game against Liverpool. His creativity from the number 10 position combined with our firepower up top should be enough to hurt them on Sunday.

Torreira, after his goal against Liverpool, will be high on confidence. His influence on the game when fully fit was evident in last season’s home derby. The Uruguayan stole the show and scored his debut goal for us as we secured the bragging rights.
