Southampton 1-1 Arsenal Player Ratings

Petr Cech – 6.6

Should’ve came out more quickly off his line for Southampton’s goal but made a few good saves to keep the score at 1-0 early on.

Laurent Koscielny – 5.4

Like last week, Koscielny seemed very much out of his comfort zone. Being caught out of position numerous times he was lucky not to be punished more than once.

Per Mertesacker – 5.0

Didn’t have the best return to the side as he was turned inside-out for Charlie Austin’s goal and didn’t really impress for the rest of the time he was on.

Nacho Monreal – 5.5

Wasn’t great yesterday and left a lot of space between himself and Mertesacker which led to the Saints goal.

Hector Bellerin – 6.3

Didn’t have much joy down the right going forward as he seemed to second guess himself a lot and didn’t have much to do defensively as we had more of the ball.

Aaron Ramsey – 6.5

Surprisingly, Ramsey’s performance didn’t live up to his standard set in recent weeks as he didn’t quite take the game to Southampton along with hitting a tame effort which rolled into Forster’s hands.

Granit Xhaka – 5.8

Didn’t do too many things of note during the game and had a silly kick-out at Ryan Bertrand and had a very forgettable performance.

Sead Kolasinac – 6.0

As of late Kolasinac hasn’t quite been at the races and that carried on yesterday. He missed a few opportunities to bomb down the left and didn’t do too much when he did.

Mesut Ozil – 7.0

With Southampton sitting back after their goal Ozil was a constant in trying to break them down and did well on the few counters we had and did well on the ball.

Alexis Sanchez – 7.0

Alexis didn’t have his best game as even though he was trying to make things happen, not a lot was coming off. However, his persistence paid off as his cross found Olivier Giroud for his equaliser.

Alexandre Lacazette – 6.8

The Frenchman had a solid performance at St. Mary’s, linking play well in and around the box but in our best chance he chose the wrong option in passing to Bellerin instead of Ozil in a one-on-one.

Danny Welbeck – 6.6

Put in a good shift once on the pitch and changed our dynamic going forward well.

Jack Wilshere – 6.8

Did well when subbed on as he drew some important fouls late on in the lead up to Giroud’s goal.

Olivier Giroud – 7.3

Olly made that four goals in his last four games as he looks to have re-found his super-sub status of last year with a well-taken glanced header to level things up late on.
