Mikel Arteta pushed Matteo Guendouzi out of Arsenal last summer. The Frenchman will return to the Emirates from his loan spell, but the chances of him nailing down a spot in the side are as small as the chances of the European Super League taking place.
Guendouzi’s situation really is a shame. The midfielder showed when he was a teenager that he has the quality to thrive in the Premier League against some of the biggest names in the country.
Sadly, his attitude has been a big problem and we all know how big a disciplinarian Arteta is. Guendouzi will likely be gone for good this summer, and it looks like Edu has a plan to replace him already.

TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Arsenal are in contact with Empoli star Samuele Ricci over a potential move in the summer transfer window.
The report claims that talks between the Gunners and the teenager’s agent have already begun, and if things go our way in the coming weeks and months, we should be able to bring him in – even though Leicester City are also reportedly keen.
Ricci is similar to Guendouzi
Ricci is a teenager from the second-tier of one of Europe’s top leagues. He is on the verge of making a big move away from his current club, and from what he has shown over the last 18 months, he has every chance of being a huge success.

Guendouzi’s story is awfully similar. The Frenchman joined Arsenal from Ligue 2 side Lorient. Nobody had heard of him here in England, but after watching him a few times, he was the talk of the town.

Ricci, like Guendouzi, is a central midfielder who has the ability to drive forward. He has a brilliant eye for a pass, and his movement with the ball at his feet, at times, is very similar to that of the Arsenal man.
With Guendouzi expected to be shown the door, it is no surprise that Edu is looking for a player just like him – minus the attitude problems, of course. Ricci would fit that bill perfectly and Arsenal could lure him in this summer.
