Arsenal travel to Anfield for arguably the biggest game of the season yet. Both sides will fight to keep their 100% record in the Premier League and if the Gunners manage to get the three points on Saturday, they will end this week ahead of everyone else in the table.

Newcastle United and Burnley made Arsenal work hard but Unai Emery’s side came out on top on both occasions. However, a game against Liverpool in their own backyard is whole different ball game and a number of Arsenal’s key players will need to step up their game if they want to have any chance of coming away with a result on Saturday.

Here are three players who need to up their game this weekend:

Nicolas Pepe:

The Ivorian has shown glimpses of how good he is in the last two games but a fine performance against one of Arsenal’s big rivals will go a long way in helping the Gunners pull off a massive victory on Saturday.

Pepe’s pace, dribbling and direct style of attacking play will cause a lot of problems to almost any side in the world. However, he will need to take his game to another level to overcome the likes of Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk.

Granit Xhaka:

The former Borussia Monchengladbach man missed the last game due to a back problem but he is cleared to face the Reds on Saturday. Xhaka is expected to return straight into the squad and he has to lead the side well from the centre of the park to unsettle this weekend’s opposition.

Dani Ceballos’ work rate will certainly ease Xhaka’s job in midfield but the Swissman will need to find the perfect balance between attack and defence to help his side take home the three points.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos:

The Greek international was arguably Arsenal’s best defender last season but he does have a mistake in him against the tougher opposition. With David Luiz next to him, Arsenal have all the experience they need in the heart of defence but it will not be easy.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will pose the duo’s toughest test yet but if Sokratis can manage to deny the deadly trio, Arsenal will have a massive chance to finally end the Anfield curse this weekend.
