Tony Adams is Arsenal’s greatest ever captain.
The legendary Englishman won league titles in three different decades and even has a statue of himself outside the Emirates Stadium.
Adams knows what it takes for a side to go all the way in the title race, and he also knows what kind of captain a league-winning team needs.
For that reason, Adams has been pushing for Declan Rice to be Arsenal’s skipper, and his wish may have come true.

Tony Adams will be delighted as Arsenal players ask for Declan Rice to be the captain
Arsenal’s captain right now is Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian has led the club very well over the last few years, but there have been question marks from the outside regarding his leadership skills.
This season, Odegaard has had multiple injury issues and has missed multiple games as a result. In his absence, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes have donned the armband.
However, in recent games, Declan Rice has leapfrogged Gabriel in the leadership group and has led Arsenal.

That led to some confusion when it happened against Bournemouth, but Arteta has now revealed that it was the players who made him do it.
“They made a decision because Declan has earned it as well,” Arteta said after the game against Sporting CP, as per Arsenal.com.
“The status, the role, the way he’s taking ownership as well in difficult moments. He’s a great leader, he’s a top player for us, and I love the players to take ownership.”
Adams must be buzzing after hearing that, as nobody has pushed for this to happen more than him over the last year.
What did you think of Declan Rice being made Arsenal captain instead of Gabriel Magalhaes vs Bournemouth?
Declan Rice could be Arsenal’s permanent captain next season
Rice has all the characteristics to be a captain.
The midfielder took over the armband from Mark Noble at West Ham United when he was there, and he is viewed by many as a future England captain as well.
We think there is a good chance Rice will be Arsenal’s permanent captain next season.
That is because reports have claimed that the Gunners are ready to sell Odegaard in the summer after his difficult season at the Emirates.
If the Norwegian leaves, Rice and Saka will be the main candidates, and we won’t be surprised if the players nominate the former to be the permanent captain.
