Tottenham could now do something that would really help Arsenal sign ‘one of the best strikers in Europe’

Arsenal fans are all hoping for the same thing right now — that Tottenham Hotspur will lose to Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Spurs have been in the Gunners’ shadow for a long, long time. They haven’t won a single piece of silverware in over 17 years, and we hope that run continues.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s side have a chance of ending that trophy drought on Wednesday night when they take on Manchester United in the final of the Europa League.

We are convinced that most Gooners will prefer United winning that game, but Spurs lifting the trophy could prove to be good news for Arsenal too.

Here’s why!

Tottenham winning the Europa League could help Arsenal sign Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres is a key target for Arsenal this summer.

It is no secret that the Gunners are in desperate need of a new number nine, and several prolific forwards have been linked with a move to the Emirates.

Andrea Berta is a big fan of Gyokeres and is keen to sign him, and Arsenal, as things stand, could be the favourites to win the race for his signature.

However, Manchester United still want to sign Gyokeres, and Ruben Amorim, who was his manager at Sporting, could give the Red Devils an edge.

Arsenal can offer Gyokeres Champions League football next season, which is something that United cannot – unless they win the Europa League.

We would rather they win the competition than Tottenham, but if Spurs do get over the line, they will make Arsenal’s life easier in their pursuit of Gyokeres.

That’s because, without Champions League football, United will find it extremely difficult to get the Swede, who has been hailed as ‘one of the best strikers in Europe’ by Fabrizio Romano.

Will Tottenham’s season be better than Arsenal’s if they win the Europa League?

There is a silly argument going around on social media over whether Tottenham or Manchester United’s season would be better than that of Arsenal if they won the Europa League.

The likes of Jamie O’Hara are adamant that Spurs’ campaign should be considered superior if they lift the trophy in Bilbao.

That is utterly ridiculous.

The Europa League is a competition where teams ranked from 37 to 64 compete with each other to see who comes out on top. That means the winner of the competition is nothing but the 37th-best team in Europe.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are second in the toughest league in the world and made it into the final four of the Champions League.

Spurs can win 10-0 in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, but they will still be in Arsenal’s shadow.
