Trossard & Arteta’s ‘best player’ get another chance: Predicted Arsenal XI v Burnley

Arsenal will be back in Premier League action at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday against Burnley.

Arsenal will be expecting to get a win against the newly-promoted side. Burnley have struggled to cope since their return to the top flight. Vincent Kompany’s side are currently mired in the relegation zone with just four points on the board.

Given the Gunners will be such heavy favourites for this match, and an International break is on the horizon, Mikel Arteta may view this fixture as an opportunity to rotate his starting XI somewhat. However, he won’t go overboard in this regard as getting all three points will still be the priority. 

Predicted Arsenal starting XI

David Raya

Now the established No. 1, albeit still with some question marks over his form, David Raya will start against the Clarets.

Ben White

As one of Arsenal’s most reliable and consistent performers, Ben White is almost certain to start.

William Saliba

As the lynchpin of the Gunners’ rearguard, William Saliba will be needed to anchor the defence.

Jakub Kiwior

A bit of an outside bet this one, as Gabriel Magalhaes is Saliba’s regular centre-back partner. However, Arteta has tried to afford Jakub Kiwior opportunities when possible this season, and the £20 million Poland international has impressed when given a run out.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

With Takehiro Tomiyasu having picked up a knock against Sevilla, Arteta probably won’t want to risk him, so Oleksandr Zinchenko should come in.

Jorginho

Jorginho has been doing a sterling job of anchoring the midfield in Thomas Partey’s absence.

Kai Havertz

Arteta recently claimed that Kai Havertz has been one of Arsenal’s best players in recent weeks. The German showed signs of improvement against Sevilla, and deserves to keep his place, assuming that club captain Martin Odegaard won’t be fit to start.

Declan Rice

Undroppable based on current form.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka took a hit against Sevilla, but an optimistic update on his condition suggests he should be ok to play against the Clarets, and as we all know, if Saka is fit, Arteta starts him.

Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli was in electric form in midweek. He will fancy his chances of terrorising the Burnley defence.

Leandro Trossard

With question marks over the fitness of Eddie Nketiah, Leandro Trossard may well be tasked with leading the line against Burnley. The Belgian certainly deserves that chance after his goalscoring exploits against Sevilla.
