Ever since he signed for Arsenal in 2019, Gabriel Martinelli has been a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium, a player who Mikel Arteta admires too.
Martinelli has always played with his heart on his sleeve for Arsenal, whether he’s been at his best or not.
At 23-years-old, the Brazilian, who has 14 caps for his country, has now made 191 appearances in red and has a contract until at least 2027.
It’s clear that Martinelli is a big part of Arteta’s plans moving forward, even if he hasn’t quite been at his best this season.
Martinelli was phenomenal in the 2022/23 campaign, when Arsenal first pushed Manchester City all the way in the title-race, but that’s form he hasn’t quite been able to replicate since.

Gabriel Martinelli looked incredibly relieved after scoring against Chelsea
Scoring in the 60th minute against Chelsea, Martinelli’s celebration seemed to say it all about his frustrations over the past year or so.
The Brazilian headed straight to the Arsenal fans in the away end at Stamford Bridge and then took a moment to seemingly sigh in relief.

It looked as if time stood still for Martinelli for a second, who was clearly very emotional about his goal, which he’ll hope will be the catalyst for a consistent run of form.
Very few in N5 doubt Martinelli’s talent, however his confidence simply hasn’t been there in the final third of late, something that is negatively affecting his decision-making.
But just like the Arsenal fans, Arteta will continue to stick by Martinelli, who’s a brilliant example of how to conduct yourselves even if things aren’t going your way.
Gabriel Jesus hoping to emulate Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal
Of course, Martinelli isn’t the only Brazilian at Arsenal who’s been struggling for form and goals of late.
Gabriel Jesus is now right on the periphery of Arteta’s squad, a player who was previously crucial.
Jesus wants more minutes at Arsenal, and in fairness he did look lively during his brief cameo against Chelsea.
The only issue for Jesus is it seems increasingly hard to fit him and Kai Havertz into the same team, and the latter is never going to be dropped.
