With Ethan Nwaneri struggling for opportunities with Arsenal, a big-money offer could sway them toward a sale.

Nwaneri is one of the brightest prospects to emerge from Hale End in recent memory. But the youngster has struggled for opportunities this season.

Having played just a handful of games this season, there is some concern as to why Nwaneri isn’t playing many games for Arsenal.

Even though Mikel Arteta has shared excitement over Nwaneri’s future, he hasn’t been able to find many minutes for him this season. With him struggling to get game time, could the Gunners consider selling him for the right price?

James McNicholas says Arsenal would consider offer for Nwaneri on one condition

Nwaneri has played just nine games for Arsenal this season, struggling to break into the rotation after the Gunners added depth to their attacking options.

For a player of his age and talent, Ethan Nwaneri isn’t getting the kind of opportunities he needs to develop his game. So what if Arsenal took a punt and sold him to the highest bidder?

Speaking on the Arsecast Extra podcast, James McNicholas said that an offer around £50 million or more could sway Arsenal to sell Nwaneri rather than loaning him out.

However, any such deal would probably include a sell-on or buy-back clause to ensure that Arsenal don’t look bad for giving up on a talent who goes on to prosper at another club.

“I think if they could, I think if they’d probably look for some sort of mitigation in the deal, like some sort of protection against if he was to move, you know, like a sell-on clause or something like that, or buy back.

They might negotiate on it as well. They might point to some other transfer fees and say, maybe there’s a bit more juice in that lemon, but it would give them, it would give them something to think very hard about.”

Arsenal should prioritize Nwaneri’s development over easy sale

The prospect of selling Ethan Nwaneri might entice the top brass at Arsenal, considering how he is currently surplus to requirements, and could fetch them a hefty transfer fee.

However, the solution isn’t to sell him to the highest bidder. Instead, Mikel Arteta should convince the team to send him out on loan to a team where he can regularly play.

Arteta has left Nwaneri on the bench for entire games this season, and cannot seem to find opportunities for him, given the high stakes Arsenal are facing.

As such, a loan spell where Nwaneri gets regular minutes and can work on his game could do wonders for the England U-21 star.
