Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a night to forget in Rome against Benfica in the Europa League tonight.

The Gabon star was expected to be high on confidence after his spectacular hat-trick against Leeds United last weekend. However, he looked nothing like that player today, and he’d be the first one to admit that.

Aubameyang took to Twitter immediately after the game admitting that he should’ve scored a couple of goals. He also claimed that Arsenal deserved better from the game, but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

Aubameyang completed just nine passes successfully, was offside four times and both of his shots were off target. He missed one big chance, but realistically, that number should be up by two considering that he would’ve buried them on another day. (SofaScore)

With the game ending 1-1, Arsenal have a lot to worry about in the coming days. Manchester City come to town on Sunday but the return leg is far more important at the moment, and Mikel Arteta might rest our best players this weekend as a result.

Aubameyang will be frustrated with his performance tonight. His display disappointed many Arsenal fans today but that hasn’t stopped us from supporting our skipper when he needs us the most.

Here’s how a few Gooners replied to Auba’s tweet.
