KRC Genk star and the Belgian top-flight’s goal-machine Paul Onuachu has named Arsenal as his dream destination this summer.

The Nigerian has been Genk’s main man this season. He has scored a staggering 31 goals in all competitions. He has three assists to his name as well, including one against Standard Liege to help his side win the Belgian Cup last night.

Onuachu’s tremendous goalscoring form this season is reportedly attracting a ton of interest from clubs across Europe. The financial impact of the pandemic could force Genk to cash in as well, which would make him one of the hottest properties in Belgian football.

Asked about his dream destination, he told Sporza, as per Voetbal Nieuws: “I really like Arsenal. [Emmanuel] Adebayor, one of the players I admired most, played there. I really was a fan of him, including Kanu. I really love watching Arsenal too.”

Genk’s sporting director, Dimitri De Conde, has admitted that his star striker could fancy a move away from the Cristal Arena this summer. (La Dernière Heure)

That could open up an opportunity for multiple clubs to lure him in this summer, but would Arsenal be an interested party? It’s highly unlikely.

The Insider’s View:

On paper, it would be foolish to reject a player who has scored more goals this season than Mo Salah, Neymar and Karim Benzema. However, it is important to note that Onuachu brilliant figures have come in the Belgian league.

He is yet to play a single game in any of Europe’s top-five leagues, and the chances of him jumping from Genk to Arsenal is extremely slim.

However, if Arsenal drop out of Europe and have very little money to spend, Onuachu may well be an option. A 6ft 7in giant who is excellent in front of goal could be a huge asset for us, especially if Alexandre Lacazette decides to leave this summer.
