As another season comes to an end, loanees are making their way back to their parent clubs. One such player is Dani Ceballos, who spent two years at Arsenal on loan from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The Spaniard, brought in by Unai Emery in the summer of 2019, played 77 times for Arsenal over the last two years. He has divided opinions at the Emirates, but the one thing nobody can deny is his passion every time he stepped onto the pitch for us.
Dani Ceballos: Goodbye, Arsenal fans
Ceballos sent a farewell message to Arsenal fans on Instagram last night. He admitted that the recently concluded season has been a complicated one, but made it absolutely clear that he loved representing us over the last two years.
That’s class from Ceballos.
The Spaniard had a sensational campaign after Mikel Arteta took over last season.
He played a massive part in helping us end the season on a high, and without his last-minute goal against Sheffield United, we probably wouldn’t have won the FA Cup.
Sadly, his second year on loan wasn’t as successful as his first. Ceballos, like most of his Arsenal teammates, struggled to get things going and that attracted a ton of criticism from fans, pundits and the media.
The sticking point from Ceballos’ message is: “I want you to know that I have always worked very hard and tried my very best for this crest and this jersey.”
Nobody can argue that. It’s just a shame that things didn’t really work out for him this season, but we can only wish him the best, and hope that he goes back to Spain and tears it up in La Liga next term.
