Arsenal completed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea yesterday, and the German has followed in the same footsteps as his compatriot, Mesut Ozil.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man is the most high-profile German signing at the Emirates since Ozil all the way back in 2013. They’re both similar players as well, and we’ve just spotted another huge similarity now.

Ozil’s first three words in English after joining Arsenal are exactly the same as what Havertz said right after he was gifted his new Gunners shirt.

Arsenal have always had an eye for talented attacking players.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Mesut Ozil was probably the attacking midfielder who made the most noise when we signed him from Real Madrid on deadline day 10 years ago, and the excitement around the Emirates was just incredible back then.

At the time, Ozil hardly spoke any English – he had to use a translator to answer questions in his first-ever press conference as a new Arsenal player.

However, when a reporter pressed him to say something in English before he left, he replied, as relayed on PressBureauTV: “I’m a Gunner!” That became an iconic phrase among the Arsenal fan base on social media at the time.

Now, Kai Havertz has done the exact same thing.

Arsenal sent the new 2023/24 home kit to wherever Havertz was recently in a neatly-packaged box. The German accepted it with a smile on his face and said: “I’m a Gunner!”
