David Ornstein delivers verdict on Eduardo Camavinga to Arsenal rumours

Le10 Sport revealed last week that Arsenal are doing everything possible to sign Rennes’ teenage wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga this summer.

The Gunners are actively looking for a new midfielder. We will need to bring in a replacement for Dani Ceballos, who will return to Real Madrid soon.

Granit Xhaka and Joe Willock’s futures are up in the air as well, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are all expected to be sold.

That leaves Arsenal terribly short in the middle of the park. We simply need to bring in a top-quality central midfielder before the start of next season, and Camavinga would genuinely be a sensational signing.

The 18-year-old has already made a name for himself as one of the best young players in world football. He has been a regular for Rennes for almost two years now, and clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all reportedly looking at him.

The report claimed that Rennes will look for at least £43 million for Camavinga this summer. That is a lot of money for a teenager, but considering his quality and potential, he could be worth it.

However, if David Ornstein is to be believed, Arsenal stand no chance.

Ornstein: Arsenal have zero chance of signing Eduardo Camavinga

The former BBC Sport journalist was asked by a fan about rumours linking Camavinga with a move to Arsenal in the comments section of his latest article on The Athletic.

He replied: “As far as I know, there’s no chance.”

That should be that. We all knew it was unlikely that Arsenal could pull this deal off, especially with clubs like Real Madrid keen. The reported £43 million fee will also be a bit too much for us considering our European football handicap for next season.

It will be interesting to see where Camavinga ends up this summer. Arsenal’s chances look extremely slim at this point, but Edu is a magician in some ways, and don’t be be surprised if he pulls something out of the hat sometime in the next two months.
