Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update regarding the future of Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe amid reported contract talks.
The 20-year-old has been the shining light in an otherwise dull season for the Gunners. Smith Rowe has been absolutely outstanding since getting into the side in December, and it’s now time for Arsenal to secure his future.
The young Englishman will enter the final two years of his contract soon. Reports have emerged over the last few weeks claiming that Arsenal are working on offering him an improved long-term deal, and if Romano is to be believed, it’s just a matter of time before it’s announced.
Just a matter of time before Emile Smith Rowe extends his Arsenal contract
He said on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast: “They are still working on the contract of [Emile] Smith Rowe.
“The intention from Arsenal is to go on with Smith Rowe and extend his contract. From the player, there is a big positive feeling because he wants to stay. He’s happy with Arsenal life.
“I think an agreement is just a matter of time and everything will be resolved.”
Smith Rowe has four goals and seven assists in 24 starts this term. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s important to note that this is his first full season at the club, and his campaign only really started on Boxing Day.
The 20-year-old has arguably played the biggest part in helping turn Arsenal’s fortunes around this season. He is playing well beyond his age, and alongside Bukyo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, things are looking really bright for the Gunners.
Smith Rowe will be the creator-in-chief for the other two Arsenal wonderkids. The three of them are the future of our football club, and if they fulfil their enormous potential, we will win everything there’s to win in a few years time.
