BBC pundit Garth Crooks has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United would be crazy to not make a move for Arsenal star Bukayo Saka this summer.

The young Englishman was arguably Arsenal’s best player on Sunday against West Brom. Saka caused havoc on the left-wing and picked up a brilliant assist. He was a constant threat and was unlucky to not add more to his tally.

The teenager has assisted 19 goals since making his debut back in November 2018 – more than any other Arsenal player. That tells you all you need to know about his quality, and it won’t be a surprise to see top clubs set their sights on him soon.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka named in Garth Crooks’ team of the week

In his team of the week column on BBC Sport, Crooks has urged England’s two most successful clubs to sign Saka – a player who is just as good as Manchester City star Phil Foden, if not better.

He wrote: “Regular readers will know what I think of this lad. If Manchester United or Liverpool don’t get their hand in their pockets and buy him there is something seriously wrong with them.

“Bukayo Saka has been outstanding for Arsenal all season. He was their only shining light against Villarreal on Thursday night and his performance against West Brom days later was devastating.

“Everybody is talking about Manchester City’s Phil Foden, this lad is just as good if not better.”

The Insider’s View:

Saka really has been incredible for Arsenal this season. He, along with Emile Smith Rowe, has carried the club and without them, there’s no way we would be in the top half of the Premier League table.

Arsenal did well to tie down Saka to a long-term contract last year. However if the Gunners keep declining on the pitch, it will only be a matter of time before our best players start to consider their options.

The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool would undoubtedly love to sign someone like Saka. It’s unlikely that they will try anything this summer, but don’t be surprised if they attempt a move in the future, especially if Arsenal don’t improve.
