Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock claims that he can’t understand why Arsenal are reportedly considering the sale of Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman is Arsenal’s top scorer in all competitions this term. He has been in fine form in recent weeks as well, but there is a lot of speculation surrounding his future beyond the end of this season.

Lacazette will enter the final year of his contract this summer.

ESPN revealed recently that Atletico Madrid, AS Roma and Sevilla are all monitoring his situation, while CalcioMercato claimed that the 29-year-old wants to try something different next season.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal decide this summer. Arteta has remained adamant that no talks will happen until the summer (Arsenal.com), but with multiple clubs circling around, there is a good chance he will leave.

Warnock, however, is baffled that Arsenal may let him leave this summer. He has claimed that he doesn’t understand why the Gunners might want to sell the Frenchman, who he claims is more important to the side than his pal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

He told Sky Sports News (Sunday, 11:30 pm): “There’s been so much talk on Lacazette going and I just don’t get it. I honestly don’t get it, he’s got so much quality and I think he’s actually more important than Aubameyang.

“He gives you a focal point and brings other players into play. He’s very unselfish when he does that and he’s got the ability to play on the shoulder as well.”

The Insider’s View:

Arsenal really have a difficult decision to make.

Lacazette will turn 30 next month. Offering a long-term deal to someone of his age isn’t really a wise move, especially after what has happened since Aubameyang and Willian penned two and three-year contracts respectively last summer.

However, his performances this season have been brilliant. The Frenchman has scored 15 goals for us in all competitions this term, and if he can continue to fire until the end of the season, he may force Arsenal’s hand.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal decide this summer. Keeping hold of the Frenchman wouldn’t really be a bad idea, but it has to be said that it makes very little financial sense.
