Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez, and his agent, Alejandro Camano, has now had his say on all the speculation surrounding his client’s future.

The Argentine, labelled as ‘spectacular‘ by Lionel Messi, is reportedly our top striker target this summer. Some fans were even convinced that we could get him, but Romelu Lukaku potentially joining Chelsea has crushed some dreams around the Emirates.

To make things worse, Football London revealed yesterday that Tottenham have agreed a deal with Inter Milan for Martinez. This isn’t much of a worry as the Argentine would never consider Spurs, but it just shows that any club can jump ahead of us if we don’t act fast.

That is a warning for Edu, not just in the Martinez deal, but with respect to moves for our other top targets as well.

Agent: Lautaro Martinez will stay at Inter Milan despite Arsenal links

Camano spoke to CalcioMercato.it yesterday and he made Martinez’s stance perfectly clear. The Argentine is happy at Inter Milan and he’ll be going nowhere this summer, despite interest from Arsenal and Spurs.

He said: “As I’ve always told you, Lautaro is happy at Inter! May the Inter fans stay calm.”

That should end all the speculation.

What next for Arsenal?

Most Arsenal fans knew that a deal for Martinez was always going to be unlikely, especially considering Inter’s £77 million demand. However, we’ve secured difficult deals in the past and some Gooners were hoping that Edu can pull this off as well before the end of the window.

It’s never over until it’s actually over, but we should be realistic now. Sunday’s game against Tottenham showed that we could really do with a new striker, and Martinez would be perfect. However, it’s time to look elsewhere.

Tammy Abraham has been heavily linked over recent weeks and he would be a decent option. If a deal can be struck with Chelsea, Edu should move in and get it done before it’s too late.
