Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has shared some worrying news he has heard from ‘a contact inside the Arsenal camp’.
The mood around the Emirates before the international break was as bad as anything we’ve seen in recent years. Arsenal are bottom of the league table after three defeats in three Premier League games, a shocking record.
The 5-0 hammering at Manchester City was painful to watch and the defeat put Mikel Arteta under serious pressure. Some fans even wanted the Spaniard gone, but Le Tissier has some inside information that may change a few supporters’ opinions.
Matt Le Tissier: Arsenal boss Arteta is not the problem
The former Saints star said on the Where’s Jeff? podcast: “I can tell you from a contact inside the Arsenal camp, at Arsenal, the problem isn’t the manager, the problem is all in the changing room from what I’m hearing.
“There is a lot of disharmony in the changing room and that’s something which is very difficult for a manager.
“Even though it might be the players’ fault, we always know what happens when things go wrong, and it’s always the manager who carries the can.”
The Insider’s View:
If there’s any truth in what Le Tissier has just revealed, Arsenal fans and Arteta should be worried. Disharmony in the dressing room is the last thing we need right now after what has been a disastrous start to the season.
Arteta has constantly called for unity among the fan base since the start of the campaign. That is extremely important if we want to get back to where we belong, but there’s no hope if there are problems inside the dressing room.
The game against Norwich is just around the corner and Arteta has to sort things out. If problems behind the scenes continue, it will reflect in our performances on the pitch, and that will end up costing the Arsenal boss his job.
