Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of strikers over the last few weeks.
Alexandre Lacazette is expected by many to be sold as he soon enters the final year of his contract. The Frenchman will need to be replaced if he leaves, and Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has been heavily linked.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
The former PSG man has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season. He, like Laca, will soon enter the final year of his contract, and reports claimed that Arsenal were eyeing a bargain deal this summer.
However, it looks like we’ve missed out.
The Daily Mail claim today that Leicester City are close to securing a deal for Edouard.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers knows the striker very well thanks to their time together at Celtic, and the Frenchman has reportedly indicated that he wants to reunite with his former manager this summer.
A deal to sign Edouard is set to to be completed very soon for just £15 million. That is an absolute bargain for a player who has all the qualities to become one of the very best strikers in the world soon.
Arsenal Insider’s view:
If Leicester manage to get this deal over the line, it could well be one of the best signings of the summer.
Edouard would’ve fit Arsenal very well. He is still only 23, he has the physicality to thrive in the Premier League, has the quality to link up play and his finishing ability is one of the best in the Scottish Premiership.
Unless Arsenal plan on keeping hold of Lacazette, not even trying to sign Edouard seems like a pretty silly move. However, Edu is a man of many tricks and he might well have a Thomas Partey-like plan prepared for the summer.
